Honestly, he gets his blankie attachment from his mom. The Pink Blankie actually exists BECAUSE of my blankie addiction. Ironically, for 37 years I have actually slept with a BLUE blankie. This is me as a baby with "Bobby", my blue blankie.
I still have this blanket. It's falling apart and about 1/10th the size of what it was. I still sleep with it. I also travel a lot for work and was always very scared to check it in a bag, for fear that I would lose it.
So, I started to buy "stand-ins". One of those was Pink Blankie.
When Eli was a tiny baby I employed every blanket in the house so I wouldn't have to do laundry as much. One would get puked on and I would have the next clean and ready to go. The color didn't matter to me. I have TWO pink blankets in the house and about 25 blue ones. The one he became attached to was one of the pink ones.
So, I guess it's only fitting that since his mom had a blue blanket he would have a pink one. It is usually within arms reach of him. And don't take it away, stand on it, or cover yourself up with it. Because he will freak out. You just don't mess with Pink Blankie.
I used to not let him take it in public with us. Now I don't think about it anymore. I certainly hope people don't think twice about a little boy with a pink blanket. It goes everywhere with us. Even places like IN the bathtub and in the pool. It's amazing how a blanket can just calm him instantly. It is filthy most of the time and is quickly becoming not quite as pink as it used to be.
