Little Salesman

Eli's favorite things to eat right now are ice cream ("I Sheem") and these little Spongebob fruit gummies (thanks to Miss Tanya :) ) So whenever he wants the Spongebobs ("Ba-Bobs") I say "Ok, you can have ONE ba-bob" and he started saying back "Two". I thought it was so funny, here is a video...

He is my sweet little man. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky that someone so sweet and great and perftect loves me more than anyone in the world. This morning when I woke him up instead of whining and tears I got a "hey" and kisses and "nice touches". It was a good morning.

Soooo many activities!!

We have had a BIG weekend. On Saturday Eli and I went to see The Lion King. I was nervous about taking him to an actual movie theater but he did so well! He was scared at first because of the loudness of it but quickly fell asleep for the first 20 or so minutes of the movie. He woke up and just layed on my lap and watched the rest of it. He got a little scared at some of the scary parts but we made it through the whole movie! It's a miracle!

Today we went to Kersey Valley for the day with my Dad and my little brother Jack. The main purpose was the corn maze but there was SO much more there to do. We actually spent very little time in the corn maze because it was like walking through quicksand and the bugs and humidity were kind of yucky. There was PLENTY more for us to do...

Jack and Dad mining for gems and dinosaur fossils...

Eli with his Pop Pop in the rock store....

A true North Carolina boy loves his Cheerwine...

Pop Pop armed them with some rock candy and we took off on the tram ride...

Eli led the way in the corn maze...

Tracing animal tracks in the maze....

"Attempting" the bouncey pillow...

Digging for dino fossils....

.....And riding the Cow Train with Jack & Pop-Pop...

It's been a great weekend and now we need to chisel off the dirt in the tub....

Favorite Photo Friday!

I am so glad this week is (almost) over. I am ready to spend the weekend just hanging out with my little dude. I had thought about taking him to see Lion King (just by ourselves, no telling how long he would last and I wouldn't want to make anyone else leave early) and of course we have our corn maze adventure planned but now wondering how the weather will cooperate.

My new favorite thing that he does is when we're sitting beside eachother he will say "hey" and reach over and put his hand on my arm and pat me with his little fingers. Sometimes he will hold his hand there while he's watching TV. It's so sweet. Last night we were reading a book and he pointed to an airplane and pointed up and said "sky". That's a new word for us :)

Here is my favorite photo of the week. His Pop Pop brought some hat options over for the football game last weekend and this was one of them. He's extra cute in it.

Happy Friday!

He loves football!

Ever since we took Eli to the Wake Forest football game last Saturday he has been screaming "BA BALLLL" everytime he sees a football game on TV. He's a little obsessed. It's so funny. Here's a video of kind of a football temper tantrum he had the other night:

Also tonight I discovered a new word. He kept saying "Raht Raaaa" and I could NOT figure out what it was. It kind of sounded like his "WA WA" (water) but that was NOT it. Finally I figured out it's yogurt. Strange but at least now I know.

I am so ready for the weekend. It's been a rough week with an "incident" at work on Monday and NYC on Tuesday and Wednesday. This weekend we're going to the Corn Maze at Kersey Valley with Pop Pop and Jack. Great Fall activity (especially for a Saturday where NEITHER of my fave teams are playing) :)

The Big Apple

Wow, today has been exhausting. We're in NY presenting Fall 2012 fashion trends to our customers. We flew in this morning and had meetings all day and walked for what felt like 450 miles in boots that hurt like HELL.

When we booked this trip we noticed that not many hotel rooms were available and the price was astronomical. Today we put 2 & 2 together and figured out that there are UN meetings today and we are staying right around the corner from the UN. There are secret service and police and police cars and ambulances and police horses and bomb sniffing & attack dogs EVERYWHERE. Literally every 20 or so feet. And I don't use the word "literally" lightly.

Tonight we ate at my FAVORITE restaurant ever, Dos Caminos. I stuffed myself on mexico city street corn, chips, guac, and tacos. Oh my. And for lunch we ate at a place that had truffle french fries. Best french fries ever, literally. Again, not taking the word "literally" lightly.

I miss my little boo, he's with his Gram. I will miss snuggling him and watching his shows with him. We're headed home tomorrow so I won't let myself get too caught up in missing him.

The view from my hotel.... Not very glamorous but I can hear every damn siren within 10 miles.

The pic Gram sent me today of Eli and his mid-afternoon snack :)

Go Deacs!

Last night Eli and I went to the Wake Forest vs Gardner-Webb football game. The weather was PERFECT for football and Eli had sooo much fun, he was sooo good! He loved watching the game and even cheered at (somewhat) the right times. He mostly was super clingy to me but at some points he let his Aunt Carrie and his Pop Pop hold him. Pop Pop explained the game to him.

He was the hit of our section. We're really close to the cheerleaders so this one cheerleader was making faces at him and playing peek-a-boo all night. It was so cute and a couple of the other cheerleaders caught on. Here he is playing peek a boo with  them.

He was just soooo good and enjoyed watching the game so much. I hope this is a regular thing for him as far as football goes, because I have been going to the WF football games for as long as I can remember.

When we got home he didn't want to take his jersey off. :)

The Pink Blankie

So, my son is completely and totally attached to a pink blanket. I have tried to replace it with blue, white, yellow, brown, all colors, in the same satin on one side/soft on the other as his favorite pink blankie. No luck. So, we have all accepted that his blankie is pink. In fact, he is snoozing right beside me right now all wrapped up in THE Pink Blankie.

Honestly, he gets his blankie attachment from his mom. The Pink Blankie actually exists BECAUSE of my blankie addiction. Ironically, for 37 years I have actually slept with a BLUE blankie. This is me as a baby with "Bobby", my blue blankie.

I still have this blanket. It's falling apart and about 1/10th the size of what it was. I still sleep with it. I also travel a lot for work and was always very scared to check it in a bag, for fear that I would lose it.

So, I started to buy "stand-ins". One of those was Pink Blankie.

When Eli was a tiny baby I employed every blanket in the house so I wouldn't have to do laundry as much. One would get puked on and I would have the next clean and ready to go. The color didn't matter to me. I have TWO pink blankets in the house and about 25 blue ones. The one he became attached to was one of the pink ones.

So, I guess it's only fitting that since his mom had a blue blanket he would have a pink one. It is usually within arms reach of him. And don't take it away, stand on it, or cover yourself up with it. Because he will freak out. You just don't mess with Pink Blankie.

I used to not let him take it in public with us. Now I don't think about it anymore. I certainly hope people don't think twice about a little boy with a pink blanket. It goes everywhere with us. Even places like IN the bathtub and in the pool. It's amazing how a blanket can just calm him instantly. It is filthy most of the time and is quickly becoming not quite as pink as it used to be.

Let's try this.

Ok, so, I am going to try to start a blog. Not sure what it is going to be about or if it will even be interesting, or if I will keep it up but here goes.

I started a little journal to write down little cute and new things Eli does or says but think this may be a cool place to try that too. So, no one else will find it interesting except for maybe me and my mother.

I will just start out saying that I am so glad it's Friday and completely looking forward to this weekend. It will be cool fall football weather and we are going to attempt a football game with my Dad. Here's to hoping Eli somewhat enjoys it and it is not a complete exhausting disaster.

So, to participate in Lisa's Favorite Photo Friday, here is my fave pic of the week. Eli LOVES rooting around in the garage and he found this old hat from a rather unfortunate and crazy evening in Colombia back years ago. He came walking in the house with it and was soooo proud of himself. :)
